ESP Multi-Cancer Early Detection

• It is a screening test for cancer DNA that is separated from cancer cells (ctDNA). This method is commonly referred to as a Liquid Biopsy since every cell in the body, including cancer cells, releases its segregated DNA into the bloodstream.
• Most cancer cells become cancerous due to epigenetic changes that cause DNA mutations beyond genetic control, and this is caused by a methylation reaction. Therefore, ESP Multi-Cancer Early Detection is used to detect such abnormalities (Screening for the Presence Of Tumor by Methylation).
• The screening can detect cancer cells at an early stage in individuals who are asymptomatic, with a specificity of over 95.9% and a sensitivity of up to 73.9%, depending on the cancer type and stage.
• Provide information about your risk of developing liver, breast, lung, stomach, or colon cancer.

How is ESP Multi-Cancer Early Detection different from Genetic Cancer Screening or Tumor Marker?

• Genetic Cancer Screening is a type of genetic screening for cancer risk genes. It can detect inherited genetic code abnormalities from ancestors that can increase the risk of different types of cancer. However, “it does not provide information about whether an individual currently has cancer or not”.
• Tumor markers, which are detected in annual health checks, are biochemicals that are either produced by cancer cells or by cells in the body responding to cancer. However, relying solely on cancer marker tests is not sufficient for cancer diagnosis due to the low accuracy of detecting these substances; additional tests must be done in conjunction with it.

Suitable for?

• Individuals who are 18 years of age or older, in good health, and who want to get screened for cancer risk, regardless of whether they have a family history of cancer or not.

Prohibitions or Unsuitable Candidates for Examination

• The examination is not suitable for individuals who currently have cancer.
• The examination is not suitable for individuals who have been diagnosed with cancer within the past 5 years.
